Birsay Hostel and Campsite
The Birsay Hostel and Campsite is set in the rural northwest corner of the Orkney Mainland, close to the village of Birsay. Nearby are spectacular coastline with quiet beaches and several of Orkney’s famous neolithic sites, the dramatic cliffs of Marwick Head, RSPB reserves, Earl’s Palace, Barony Mill, Kirbuster Farm Museum and the tidal Island of the Brough of Birsay.
The 3 star campsite offers 28 pitches and 13 electric hook-up pitches. Tents caravans and motor homes can all be accommodated on the firm, grassy, level site. There are toilet and shower blocks on site for campers, along with washing facilities and a drying green available.
The Hostel offers visitors comfortable 3 star accommodation which comprises 5 bedrooms sleeping 26 persons. The hostel welcomes singles, families and groups, with exclusive room or whole hostel bookings available. All bed linen is provided. There is a well equipped kitchen, dining area and washing facilities with drying green available for guest use.
Winter bookings can be made by arrangement for groups.

"Perfect for a local staycation, the campsite is clean with toilets and shower facilities, there is also access to a kettle, sink and microwave in the hostel porch which is very useful.
My children like staying here as there is a big playpark and football pitch next door. Birsay village is a 10-15 minute walk and has the Palace ruins to explore, a small shop and the beach, at low tide you can also head over to the Broch of Birsay (keep an eye on the tide!) or you can go on a coastal walk to the whalebone.
