Thaw continues – 14 February

Thaw continues – 14 February
15 February 2021

The whiteout is rapidly being replaced by the more familiar green in many areas across Orkney as the thaw continues.

Thanks to the efforts of many, our priority one and most priority 2 roads are now opened up and can accommodate two-way traffic, however, there are a few that remain single file. Anyone out and about should drive to the conditions.

Road surface temperatures are above zero and we are forecasted to reach the balmy heights of 7.6 degrees C tomorrow lunchtime!

Winds will be easing throughout the night and the Churchill Barriers are open. They will be reviewed again at 10pm – for updates check the OIC Roads Twitter feed www.twitter.com/OIC_Roads

Once again, just to say a huge thank you to everyone who has worked tirelessly to help out others during what has been a prolonged period of wintry weather in Orkney. Let’s hope it’s a peedie while before we encounter another spell like this.
