OIC warns of TV Licensing fake emails
15 March 2021

Orkney Islands Council is warning folk to be on their guard in respect of a TV Licensing scam currently on the go.

Emails are being sent to members of the public purporting to be from TV Licensing, but the email address used is fraudulent and has no connection with TV Licensing.

The TV Licensing website confirms that their emails are sent from donotreply@tvlicensing.co.uk or donotreply@spp.tvlicensing.co.uk and will include the customer name and/or part of the postcode. The scam email being received does not contain these details.

The fraudster asks for personal details to update accounts stating that it is important to keep the account up to date to help prevent cybercriminals from accessing information.

If you receive an email and suspect it is fake please advise the National Anti-Fraud Network by contacting intel@nafn.gov.uk.
