Orkney people are being invited to walk through ‘Islands Deal’ proposals for future management of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site (WHS) to help ensure developments strengthen the sense of connection locals have with the wonders left behind by past islanders and protect them for future generations.

Local people are being reminded to take a closer look at proposals for the future management of the world-renowned Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site (WHS)  - and give their feedback via an online survey option newly added to the consultation website.

Local people are being asked for their feedback on options for the future management of the world-renowned Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site - feedback will be used to develop a final ‘Outline Business Case’ for ‘Islands Deal’ funding announced earlier this year by the UK and Scottish Governments for the Orkney World Heritage Site Gateway Programme - or “the Orkney Gateway”.

The University of the Highlands and Islands centre for island creativity wants to hear from creative businesses, practitioners and professionals in Shetland, Orkney and the Outer Hebrides as part of research into the economic and social impact of the islands’ creative sector.

A £100 million investment in the future economic prosperity of Orkney, Shetland and the Outer Hebrides was agreed today, as representatives of the UK and Scottish governments joined the Leaders of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Orkney Islands Council, and Shetland Island Council to sign the Heads of Terms for the Islands Growth Deal.
