Dressed for Success at Orkney Library & Archive!

Date: 06 March 2024

Orkney Library and Archive dress up

It’s World Book Day on Thursday 7 March and Orkney’s schools will be welcoming all manner of characters through their doors to celebrate.

If your peedie cherub forgot to tell you or you’ve only just remembered, never fear for the Orkney Library & Archive team are here!

It’s not just books that are on loan, you can also pick up a fancy-dress costume!

Head to the Library & Archive foyer as the dressing up rails are officially open!

There are costumes for children and young people to choose from. The outfits don't need to be scanned or loaned like a book - just take what you need and bring them back whenever you can.

Orkney Library & Archive Team Manager, Vikki Kerr, said: “We're hoping to expand our collection so any donations of good, clean dressing up clothes would be very welcome!

“The dressing up rails have a super selection of costumes, perfect for fancy dress parties, Halloween or #WorldBookDay. Libraries continue to help everyone to spend less by reusing, recycling and sharing within the local community.

This is one of the Library’s #Shelflife24 projects funded by The Scottish Library & Information Council and the Scottish Government's Climate Engagement Fund.
