Festive arrangements for public bus services

As the festive season approaches, Orkney Islands Council is reminding the public that bus services run differently from 25 December 2023 to 5 January 2024 inclusive.

The following arrangements will apply over the Festive Period. Note that all services are suspended on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and New Years Day and 2 January 2024.

The below information should be used used in conjunction with the timetables at www.orkney.gov.uk/bus

Friday 22 December 2023 - Normal school day services will operate.

Saturday 23 December 2023 – Normal Saturday services will operate.

Sunday 24 December 2023 (Christmas Eve) – Normal Sunday services will operate with the exception of the following journeys:

Service X1 (Stromness – Kirkwall – St Margarets Hope):

• 20:26 Kirkwall to Stromness will not operate
• 21:10 Stromness to St Margarets Hope will not operate.
• 22:17 St Margarets Hope to Kirkwall will not operate.

Service X10 (Hatston Ferry) will not operate.

Monday 25 December 2023 (Christmas Day)  – All services suspended.

Tuesday 26 December 2023 (Boxing Day)  - All services suspended.

Wednesday 27 December 2023 to Saturday 30 December 2023 inclusive - School Holiday timetable will operate.

Sunday 31 December 2023 (New Year’s Eve) - Normal Sunday services will operate with the exception of the following journeys:

Service X1 (Stromness – Kirkwall – St Margarets Hope)

• 20:26 Kirkwall to Stromness will not operate
• 21:10 Stromness to St Margarets Hope will not operate.
• 22:17 St Margarets Hope to Kirkwall will not operate

Service X10 (Hatston Ferry) will not operate.

Monday 1 January 2024 (New Years Day) - All services suspended.

Tuesday 2 January 2024 - All Services suspended.

From Wednesday 3 January 2024 to Friday 5 Jan 2024 inclusive: School holiday timetable will operate.

Saturday 6 January 2024 – Normal Saturday services will operate.

Sunday 7 January 2024 – Normal Sunday services will operate.

All Services including school transport return to normal timetables from Monday 8 January 2024.
