Food business register to be refreshed

Support continues to be provided to businesses in Orkney who offer, sell or provide food to help ensure their details registered with the Council are up to date.

The Environmental Health team are refreshing the food business register and, as such, will be in touch with many businesses who deal with food on their premises.

Letters and questionnaires will be sent out in batches and first to receive them will be childminders.

Folk will be asked to fill in the form and return to the Council within three weeks. Anyone who requires help to do this or has a question can give the food team a call on 01856 873535 or email environmental.health@orkney

Food Law Officer, Carolyn Charles said: “We are required to update our food business register and the easiest way is to ask folk to fill in the questionnaire and pop it back to us so we can amend any circumstances that may have changed.

“The first group is childminders and other groups will follow. We understand that childminders have many business responsibilities and requirements, so we are here to help and guide people to comply with the food law regulations as required.

“This refresh is actually a great opportunity for us to offer advice and our support to those who may need it.”
