Regional Marine Plan for the Orkney Islands - Statement of Public Participation

The ‘Statement of Public Participation’ guidance document was published by OIC in 2021, following approval from Scottish Ministers.  This report outlines the indicative timescales and how we would engage local communities in the development of the Orkney Islands Regional Marine Plan (OIRMP).

OIC also undertook additional consultation island visits in Spring/Summer 2022, which highlighted the value of marine planning and the welcome extent  local knowledge to ensure a marine plan that is fit for purpose. 

OIC submitted the draft plan to Scottish Ministers in Dec 2022 for their approval to consult on the OIRMP – Consultation Draft, but unfortunately, it has been delayed in its approval process therefore any updates to the SPP will be made when/if required by them and this information will be amended once further information is known.
