Kerbside recycling update - glass bottles and jars

Kerbside recycling update - glass bottles and jars
17 July 2020

Orkney Islands Council will be collecting glass bottles and jars during next week’s kerbside collections starting on Monday 20 July.

Householders are asked to put out their green bins or boxes on their usual collection day.

Physical distancing restrictions and other requirements from the Scottish Government are continuing to have an impact on the way we provide services.

As a result, we are continuing to collect recycling over a four-week cycle – with one type or material collected each week.

The Council would like to thank folk for their support and patience. We are reviewing the situation and investigating options and will provide updates of any further changes as soon as we can.

This means that we will collect:

  • Glass - week commencing 20 July.
  • Plastic bottles - week commencing 27 July.
  • Tins, cans and metals - week commencing 3 August.
  • Paper and thin card - week commencing 10 August.
