The Orkney Islands Council (Cruise Liners) Temporary Closure Order 2024

Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users when cruise liner passengers are visiting Kirkwall.

The Order will be in operation from 9 April 2024 to 3 October 2024  and its effect will be to (1) close Bridge Street and Albert Street, Kirkwall, between the hours of 10am and 4pm on the dates specified in Schedule 1 below; and (2) close Albert Street, Bridge Street, Broad Street, Castle Street (car park exit to Broad Street), Palace Road (Watergate to Broad Street), Tankerness Lane (One Way section) and Victoria Street, all Kirkwall, between the hours of 10am and 4pm on the dates specified in Schedule 2 below.

Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when a road is closed.
