How we're performing
We are committed to being open and transparent about how we are delivering services for the people of Orkney. This section explains how we plan our work, how we measure our progress, and how we report our performance to councillors and to you.
We use a Strategic Planning Performance Framework to guide our approach. This sets out how we plan at a strategic and service level, how we manage risk, how we assess the quality of our services, and how we report our performance publicly.
We carry out regular checks to make sure our plans are on track, and we report our progress to councillors and the public. Here you can find our monitoring reports and see how we compare with other Scottish councils.
Annual performance reports
Each year we publish an Annual Performance Report, which sets out how well we have performed against our key priorities. The reports use a range of measures to give you a clear picture of what we have achieved.

Health and social care performance
The Integration Joint Board (IJB) monitors the performance of health and social care services in Orkney through a set of local and national indicators. This allows the Board to assess how well services are being delivered and identify areas for improvement.
The IJB reports on a range of performance areas throughout the year, including progress against the national Health and Wellbeing Outcomes, financial performance, child and adult protection, clinical and care governance, staff governance and workforce planning, and risk management.
The Scottish Government has set nine Health and Wellbeing Outcomes that all Health and Social Care Partnerships across Scotland are expected to achieve through integration. Our performance against these outcomes is reported annually.
Our Performance Framework sets out how we collect and report performance information, including local measures that support strategic planning and evidence progress against national outcomes.
