Telecare and the Mobile Responder Service

Telecare

Telecare means continuously and automatically monitoring someone remotely for emergencies or changes in their daily life, helping manage the risks of living independently.

In practice, this means installing an alarm unit connected to your telephone line, linked wirelessly to a range of sensors and monitors. If a sensor is triggered, a response centre can speak directly to you or to a nominated contact, to arrange the right response.

Mobile Responder Service

A team of trained staff, equipped with a fully equipped vehicle, provides both routine and emergency support to people in their own homes across Orkney Mainland and the connected South Isles. The service is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
