Search for a building warrant

Overview

An online public register is a statutory requirement of the Building (Scotland) Act 2003, and all local authorities must make it accessible to the public.

Orkney Islands Council's public register contains information on Building Warrant applications received by the Council's Building Standards function, with records going back to 1 January 2000.

Using the search

The Public Access Register lets you:

• View submission, first report, approval, and completion dates for a Building Warrant application.
• Check the progress of an application.
• View weekly and monthly lists by key date, such as registered, approved, commenced, or completed.
• Search by application type, such as new house, extension, or demolition.

To run a simple search:

1. Select "Building Standards" from the search tab.
2. Select "Simple".
3. Select "Applications or Notices".
4. Enter a keyword, reference number, postcode, or single line of an address.
5. Select "Search".

Where more than one record matches, select the one you want. This gives you access to all information held for that record, including description of works, agent name, applicant name, value of works, decision, decision date, case officer, received date, commencement date, completion date, and map location.
