Student interview expenses
Funding is available to help young people in Orkney with travel costs when attending a college or university interview outside Orkney.
Please note that this funding is a contribution towards travel costs and will not cover the full cost of the trip.
Available funding
- Up to £50 for interviews taking place in Scotland
- Up to £75 for interviews taking place outside Scotland
Funding is limited to one application per person per academic year and is awarded on a first come, first served basis. Applications will close once the available budget has been allocated.
Who can apply?
You may be eligible if you are:
- A pupil in S4 to S6 attending a secondary school in Orkney
- An Orkney College student aged 16 to 18
- A young person aged 16 to 18 who is not currently in education, employment or training
How to apply
The form must be:
- Signed by the applicant
- Approved by a relevant member of staff from your school, Orkney College, Jobcentre Plus, Skills Development Scotland, or another appropriate organisation
Applications must include:
- A copy of your interview invitation
- Relevant travel receipts
Applications must be submitted within one month of the interview date. Late applications, or applications submitted without receipts, cannot be accepted.
