Car parks
We provide a range of car parks across Orkney, from pay and display car parks in Kirkwall and Stromness to free long stay, community and housing car parks. For current parking charges, see our council finances page.
Pay and display car parks
Our pay and display car parks require a parking charge based on how long you stay. Ticket machines are provided at each car park. You must display a valid ticket at all times, even during periods of free parking.
If no coins are inserted, press the green button to get a free ticket. A free ticket cannot be used alongside any other ticket.
We operate a seasonal tariff. Free one-hour parking is available during January, February and March, provided a valid free ticket is displayed. Current charges are on our council finances page.
Pay and display restrictions apply Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.
