Building community capacity

Across Orkney, the Community Learning and Development (CLDE) Service supports voluntary groups and organisations involved in activities that benefit their local communities. This includes tailored support for community associations, community schools, and other groups, through training, events, project work, and helping communities get involved and engaged.

Working closely with local people and organisations, our aim is to help everyone in Orkney enjoy a high quality of life, by listening to communities and supporting strong, locally based organisations that keep island life thriving.

Annual Meeting of Community Associations

This event brings together halls and community centres for training, information sharing, and workshops, helping each community make the most of its resources.
