I was born on the croft of South Horraldsay in the Parish of Firth where I still live. Married to Linda, we have three of a family John, Olga, and Anne, one grandson Ewen and two granddaughters Ivy and Naimh.
I have spent most of my life working in the building industry alongside, for many years, working the family croft. I also did a bit of creel fishing in the early 70s as a hobby.

Outside Interests
Music has played a huge part in my life, playing in various groups and dance bands over the years.
About thirty years ago I set up a recording studio and started my own record label (Attic Records) which is still busy today recording and releasing albums by Orkney's many talented musicians and singers.
I am a member of the Folk Band 'Hullion' which has ,for many years entertained both local and visiting audiences at concerts and functions throughout Orkney and beyond. I have always loved boating and spend quite a bit of my leisure time in the boat.
