A native of Caithness, the first five years of my working life were spent training as a gamekeeper/deerstalker before becoming an under-keeper on a local sporting estate. I then joined Northern Constabulary serving for thirty years with postings in Skye, Lochaber, Isle of Lewis, Shetland and the final seventeen years in Orkney. Elected to OIC in 2017. Married for forty years to Barbara, we have been blessed with four adult children, two young grandsons and a lively Labrador.
