Parasport festival puts smiles on bairns' faces
Date: 24 March 2023

Orkney’s Parasport Festival took place last Friday (17 March) after a hugely successful launch last year.
It gave a school-aged young people with a physical, visual or hearing impairment or Down Syndrome the chance to try a range of sports and learn more about the opportunities that are available in the local community.
Sports included in this year’s festival were athletics, rugby, climbing, badminton, swimming, and boccia.
The event was supported by Scottish Disability Sport, with a number of sport specific specialists delivering sessions. Staff from the Council’s Active Schools and Community Sports teams, The Pickaquoy Centre and volunteers from Inclusive Orkney and local sporting clubs were on hand to help.
Huge thanks to everyone who played a part in making the festival a success again this year.
