Delivery Methods
Each university has its own requirements and approach to how they deliver courses as follows:
- Heriot-Watt University:
- Business Management – fully online delivery
- Data Science, Software Development for Business and Engineering: Design and Manufacture – hybrid delivery
- Construction and the Built Environment and Civil Engineering – on-campus delivery only
- Robert Gordon University:
- All courses are offered through hybrid delivery, combining online study with a scheduled 5-6 days on-campus per academic year.
- University of Highlands and Islands:
- All course delivery information is listed on their website under the 'study mode' section on each course page.
- University of Strathclyde:
- All courses are delivered remotely, with the requirement to be on campus one day per month.
Please note that any associated travel and accommodation costs would need to be covered by the service.

Are you eligible for a course?
- You can apply even if you already have a degree.
- You'll need to demonstrate that your current post requires different skills and that there's demand for the specific knowledge and skills offered by the course.
Application Process
- If you want to apply for a course, get in touch with us at Learn.Develop@orkney.gov.uk and we'll put you in contact with the university lead.
- You'll need to apply for funding through the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS). The university will guide you through this process.
To qualify for Graduate Apprenticeship funding, you must:
- Have settled status and have been living in the United Kingdom (UK), the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
- Have been living in one of these places for the three years immediately before the start of the course.
- Be living (ordinarily resident) in Scotland on the day the course starts.
