Orkney Sports Awards
The Orkney Sports Awards is an annual celebration of sporting excellence across the islands, recognising outstanding achievements by athletes, coaches, volunteers and teams.
Organised by Orkney Islands Council's Active Schools & Community Sports team and sponsored by Stagecoach, along with support from local organisations, the awards showcase the dedication and talent within Orkney's sporting community.
The event takes place each January at Kirkwall Grammar School, covering achievements from the previous year. Members of the public are invited to nominate deserving individuals and teams across multiple categories.

There will be an overall Sportsperson and an overall Young Sportsperson chosen from the male, female and veteran categories and young male and young female categories.
This year's awards have been expanded from 10 to 18 categories to recognise the exceptional sporting achievements across Orkney over the past year.
Nominations close at midnight on Sunday 16 November 2025.
All nominations are put to a panel for shortlisting. Three finalists from each category are chosen, which will then be announced in the Orcadian and on social media. During the week of the event a further panel will then meet and decide the winners of each category.
If relevant, a Service to Sport Award may be presented to a nominated person who has given above and beyond service to their sport but does not fit into any of the above categories for that year. This is decided and voted for by the panel.
The awards will be held on Friday 30 January 2026 and cover the previous year of sport, celebrating the dedication and achievements of Orkney's sporting community, from grassroots to elite level.
