Animal Welfare

The Animal Welfare Section has articles related to the welfare of animals, including various licences for businesses involving the care of animals.

The Animal Welfare Officer enforces legislation with regard to the health and welfare of animals.

Stray Animals

Stray dogs should be reported to the Trading Standards team. The dog will be collected if possible, scanned for a microchip and if the owner can’t be contacted it will be taken to dedicated kennels.

Reporting Animal Welfare Concerns

Please report any concerns you may have regarding health or welfare issues arising from the keeping of animals to the Trading Standards team on 01856873535.

The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, SSPCA, is also a useful point of contact for reporting concerns about the well being of animals. A link to their website can be found in the 'Related Sites' section of this web page.

Animal Licences information can be accessed from the 'More pages in this section' menu.
