Trading Standards
The primary roles of Trading Standards are to enhance economic and social welfare in Orkney by improving standards of fair trading and to protect the interests of local consumers and businesses.
We do this by enforcing a range of consumer and business related legislation through inspection of trade premises, testing equipment, sampling goods and investigating complaints. We provide advice and information to consumers and businesses and offer consumer education events such as talks to schools and other groups.
We also work closely with other agencies such as Police Scotland and Advice Direct Scotland. Further information on these agencies can be accessed via the 'Related Site's' section of this page.
For information on recent product safety recalls you can visit the Trading Standards Institute website within the 'Related Sites' section of this page.
All Trading Standards pages can be accessed from the 'More pages in this section' menu.
