Orkney Islands Council Decides Against Overnight Visitor Levy
The introduction of an overnight visitor levy in Orkney will not go ahead at this time following a recommendation passed at today’s (23 September 2025) meeting of the Council’s Policy and Resources Committee.

Plans for 20mph areas published for final comment.
Proposals to introduce 20 mph speed limits in built up areas are out for public consultation.
The draft traffic regulation order and associated plans are available on the Orkney Islands Council website and are also available to view at the Council Offices and the Warehouse Building from 14th August 2025 for a period of four weeks.

Orkney Islands Council is seeking feedback from the public about its website, and any improvements the community would like to see.
During the recent Our Budget Challenges survey there was useful feedback from the public that our website could be improved. We are now looking for more information and details to help us do this.

Blue Badge holders asked for views on Albert and Bridge Street access changes
