Orkney Local Development Plan

On 9 March, the Council approved the decision of the Development and Infrastructure Committee for the Proposed Plan to be put forward to the Scottish Government as the version of the Plan that the Council intends to adopt. On 16 March, a 28 day notification period will commence where the Scottish Government will review the Proposed Plan to ensure that it complies with National Planning Framework 3 and Scottish Planning Policy. If no comments are received from them, the Council intends to adopt the Proposed Plan on or just after 12 April 2017.

A copy of the Proposed Plan from May 2016, with post-examination amendments from March 2017, is available to view as a PDF in 'Related Downloads', along with a list of modifications made to the proposed plan following the Examination process.

Through the outcome of the examination process the Reporter recommended 2 amendments. These amendments are detailed in the PDF documents that are labelled Kirkwall and Burnside Harray under  'Related Downloads'.

Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, the Proposal Maps on this page do not yet reflect these 2 amendments. However, the maps within the ‘Spatial Strategy’ section of the interactive site, accurately reflects these changes. The Proposals Map PDF will be updated as soon as possible.
