Mitsuro Hikime Training

I travelled to Bicester in Oxfordshire to have a 2-day 1-to-1 workshop with Japanese jeweller Kumiko Kihara. I learnt so much in those 2 days, and I was able to start using the technique to produce a collection of jewellery I have called “Sea Ribbons”. I launched my collection at the beginning of November and also had the opportunity to take part in “From Broch to Brooches” exhibition at the Kirkwall museum, where a big part of the jewellery I exhibited was made using Mitsuro Hikime.

Without the award, I could never have gone to spend 1 to 1 time with Kumiko and I certainly couldn’t have developed the technique enough to take part in an exhibition or launch a collection without it.
