Case Studies

Westray Connections for 2023 was a remarkably successful festival.  We built on the feedback of previous years, and ensured that each band had lots of exposure to the community and that tickets went on sale in Westray first. 

Initially we canvassed our young people about what ‘Culture’ meant to them to get their engagement with activities planned for their benefit over the year.  The results mainly fell into 3 categories; Learning about other cultures, mainly Japanese culture as quite a few had an interest there, Orkney heritage “old stuff around Orkney” and Orkney crafts.

We invited and paid for the Orkney Camera Club to come to Eday for the day. The aim was to photograph cultural and natural heritage around the island and provide some workshops and learning for the community.
