Housing Market Partnership

What is the Housing Market Partnership?

The Housing Market Partnership (HMP) is led by the Council with involvement from a range of partners who work together around strategic planning in relation to house building. This involves collaboration on the Housing Need and Demand Assessment (HNDA), Local Housing Strategy (LHS) and the Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP). The HMP will regularly monitor and review the strategic documents and adjust accordingly in line with the requirements of the Orkney community.

Membership

The Orkney HMP involves a range of stakeholders, including Elected Members from the Local Housing Strategy Member Officer Working Group, internal Council Services and external organisations. Membership comprises of:

  • Orkney Islands Council.
  • Orkney Housing Association Limited (OHAL).
  • UHI Orkney.
  • Isles Development Trusts Housing Consultant.
  • Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
  • Local construction industry.
  • NHS Orkney.
  • Scottish Government - More Homes Division.
  • Scottish Water.

Meetings

The Orkney HMP currently meet on a quarterly basis. Relevant papers from these meetings will be available from the Related Downloads section of this page in due course.
