Contact Scotland BSLcontactSCOTLAND BSL (British Sign Language)

contactSCOTLAND BSL is a free online British Sign Language (BSL) interpreting service funded by the Scottish Government. The service allows Deaf and Deafblind people across Scotland to contact public sector services, third sector organisations, community groups, voluntary organisations, charities, social enterprises, co-operatives and individual volunteers using sign language.

This nationally funded Video Relay Service (VRS) is unique in the UK and has been operating since March 2015.

From 1st December 2025, contactSCOTLAND BSL is provided by Sign Solutions, who have over 25 years of experience in providing interpretation and translation services nationwide.

How to access the service:

  • Download the contactSCOTLAND BSL app (available in Apple and Android app stores)
  • Visit contactscotland-bsl.org

The service provides Scottish interpreters and has a dedicated Community Liaison Officer to support BSL users.

For organisations returning calls to Deaf BSL users: Dial 0141 530 8113 and provide the user's email address or SMS details.
