The Orkney Islands Council (SSEN) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025

Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users while RJ McLeod, on behalf of SSEN, carry out utility works for a new substation.

The Order will be in operation from Friday, 6 June 2025 to Saturday, 28 February 2026. The effect of the Order will be to close the roads specified in the Schedule below, when required. Vehicles using the lengths of road specified in the Schedule may be subject to delays and to possible speed restrictions of ten, twenty or thirty miles per hour. Vehicular traffic may also be restricted to using one lane of the carriageway.

Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when a road is closed.

Roads in Stenness: Germiston Road, Bigswell Road, Ireland Road.

Roads in Stromness: Howe Road, Wardhill Road, Brownstown Road, Outertown Road.
