Views sought on public bus services
5 November 2026
Orkney Islands Council’s transportation team are asking for views on Orkney’s public bus services, - whether you use the bus regularly, occasionally or not at all.
The online survey asks for views on routes, timetables, reliability, accessibility and more. Those who don’t use the bus are also invited to say what stops them, so that the Council can understand what might make the services work better for them.
The feedback will help monitor how services are performing and identify where improvements could be made.
It will also inform decisions on how best to use the Council’s Sustainable and Green Transport Fund, which helps to support evening bus services.
Douglas McIntosh, the Council’s Service Manager Transportation, said:
“We want to hear from as many people as possible, including those who don’t currently use the bus. Understanding what works, and what doesn’t, is a really important part of how we monitor services and plan for the future.
“Whether you travel by bus every day, occasionally or never at all, your views will help inform future decisions, including how we best use available funding, and help us keep improving services for communities across the county.”
The survey takes a few minutes to complete and closes on Monday 7 December. The survey can be found here - Orkney Bus Services Survey.
Paper copies are available on request from the Transportation Service on 01856 873535 or transport@orkney.gov.uk.
