The Orkney Islands Council (Orktoberfest Torchlit Procession) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026

Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users during the Orktoberfest Torchlit Procession.

The Order will be in operation on Saturday 3 October 2026 between the hours of 16:15 and 19.45 and its effect will be to close the roads specified in the Schedule below, all in Stromness, when required. Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when a road is closed.

Schedule Referred To:

Alfred Street; Back Road, from access to Well Park car park to Ness Road;
Church Road; Dundas Street;
Ferry Road, from Stromness Fetty Terminal car park exit to Victoria Street;
Graham Place;
Helliehole Road, from Whitehouse Lane to Dundas Street;
John Street, from No 27 John Street to Victoria Street;
Ness Road; South End; and Victoria Street.
