The Orkney Islands Council (Orkney Folk Festival) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026

Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users during the Orkney Folk Festival. The Order shall be in operation from Wednesday 20 May 2026 to Monday 25 May 2026, and its effect will be to:

1 Close Ferry Road (from Ferry Terminal carpark exit to Victoria Street), all Stromness, from 08:00 on Thursday 21 May 2026 to 23.59 on Sunday 24 May 2026; and

2 Close (1) Victoria Street (from John Street to Church Road); and (2) John Street (from No 27 to Victoria Street), all Stromness, on Saturday 23 May 2026 and Sunday 24 May 2026; and

3 Prohibit parking between 08:00 on Thursday 21 May 2026 and 23.59pm on Sunday 24 May 2026, within (1) Victoria Street parking bays between Numbers 14 to 16; and (2) Ferry Road parking bays between Numbers 14a and 16 Victoria Street, all Stromness.

4 Prohibit parking between 08:00 on Wednesday 20 May 2026 and 23.59 on Monday 25th May 2026, within Church Road parking bays between numbers 1 to 15 Church Road, all Stromness.

Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when a road or parking bay is closed. Emergency service vehicles are exempt from the prohibitions.
