The Orkney Islands Council (Orkney Folk Festival) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025

Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users during the Orkney Folk Festival. The Order shall be in operation from Thursday 22 May 2025 to Sunday 25 May 2025 and its effect will be to:

(1) Close Ferry Road (from Ferry Terminal carpark exit to Victoria Street), all Stromness, from 0800 on Thursday 22 May 2025 to 2359 on Sunday 25 May 2025; and

(2) Close (1) Victoria Street (from John Street to Church Road); and (2) John Street (from No 27 to Victoria Street), all Stromness, on Saturday 24 May 2025 from 1000 to 1800 and Sunday 25 May 2025 from 1000 to 1800; and

(3) Prohibit parking between 0800 on Thursday 22 May 2025 and 2359 on Sunday 25 May 2025, within (1) Victoria Street parking bays between Numbers 14 to 16; and (2) Ferry Road parking bays between Numbers 14a and 16 Victoria Street, all Stromness.
Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when a road or parking bay is closed. Emergency service vehicles are exempt from the prohibitions.
