The Orkney Islands Council (Kings Baton Relay) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that Orkney Islands Council has made an order in terms of section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users during a Kings Baton Relay event.

The order will be in operation on Saturday 11 July 2026 between 13:00 and 16:30. The effect of the Order will be to close the roads specified in the Schedule below. Parking will also be suspended on Broad Street, Kirkwall on 11 July 2026 between 08:00 and 16:30.
Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when a road or car park is closed.

Albert Street; Bridge Street; Bridge Street Wynd; Broad Street; Broad Street car park; Castle Street from Castle Street car park exit to Broad Street; Palace Road from Broad Street to Watergate; Tankerness Lane; Victoria Road from Watergate to Victoria Street; and Victoria Street, all Kirkwall.
