Sponsored walk at the Picky to Support Aurrida House
Date: 15 June 2026
Time: 02:30 PM

A sponsored fancy dress walk will take place at the Picky sports track on Saturday 20 June between 1–3 pm to raise funds for the Aurrida House Comfort Fund.
The effort has been inspired partly due to a generous donation received in memory of Victor Chase. In recognition of this gift, and kind donations, funds raised will be used to purchase then install a multi-activity outdoor climbing frame and swing set. This will help to enhance outdoor play opportunities for young people at Aurrida House.
The event is kindly being supported by the Picky, who are providing the running track as a safe and inclusive space for young people, staff and families to come together and help raise funds for a new outdoor play area.
Aurrida House Senior Social Care Worker Sarah Muir said:
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from the community and local businesses in helping us reach our goal. The generous donation in memory of Victor Chase, alongside other kind donations, has given us a wonderful opportunity to create something meaningful and lasting for our young people.
“This new outdoor play equipment will make a real difference, providing a safe and enjoyable space where they can have fun and build confidence. We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone come along and take part in the walk.”
Local businesses have also shown their support, R Clouston will construct the climbing frame, whilst DFDS has agreed to transport the equipment from Inverness. Grays will be providing sweets, ice cream, and drinks for the participants on the day. The Orcadian newspaper is coming along on the day and has kindly donated a banner to go up at the track.
Young people taking part have been collecting sponsorship through forms, with additional donations already kindly received from the community. Anyone who would like to support the initiative by donating is encouraged to contact Aurrida House on 01856 876160, or just turn up on the day.
The Aurrida Team and young people are looking forward to a fun event, so let's hope the sun shines for them.
