Shining a Light on Care Experienced Week 2025

Date: 22 October 2025

Time: 01:00 PM

Cathedral CE Week 1

Care Experienced Week takes place this month across Scotland, a week with a purpose to celebrate every child, young person and adult with experience of care and their supporters.

Care Experienced Week was first held in 2018, and was initially launched by Who Cares? Scotland, but is now celebrated globally. Events take place all over Scotland and each year brings exciting new opportunities to listen, learn and celebrate.

It is also an opportunity to raise awareness of care experience for young people and their families, professionals and the wider community, and reduce the stigma around what it is to be care experienced.

To mark Orkney's commitment to our care experienced community, St Magnus Cathedral will once again be lit up in the colours of Scotland's Promise from Saturday 25th October.

In addition, this year we are asking members of the wider community to show their support for Care Experienced Week by displaying Promise hearts in their windows. Hearts are available to collect from Customer Services at School Place and from the Blide Trust, and we would invite supporters far and wide to place these in visible spaces.
