Repairs completed at Westray and Stromness swimming pools

Orkney Islands Council is pleased to confirm that repair works have been successfully completed at both Westray and Stromness swimming pools, ahead of the summer holidays. 

Contractors attended Westray Swimming Pool on the 29 July, where cracks were identified and repaired in both corners of the shallow end. A new pool cover was also installed while contractors were on site.  

Refilling of the pool began on Saturday 4 July, with the process expected to take a number of days, and it is anticipated that it will be filled, heated, and ready for visitors by Saturday 11 July. 

Contractors also carried out repairs to damaged pool tiles, replaced sand in the spa filter, fitted a new chlorine dosser, and repaired the UV lamp at Stromness Swimming Pool. 

Carolyn Leslie, Team Manager Sports & Leisure, said: 

“We’re delighted these repairs have been completed so efficiently, ensuring both pools are ready for residents and visitors to enjoy over the summer period. We’d like to thank the public for their patience while these works were carried out.” 

All works were carried out by specialist contractors Aqua Leisure.
