Protect Orkney website launches as central hub for adult support and professional guidance

A new website has launched today to provide information, support and resources for adults and professionals across Orkney, complementing the existing Growing Up in Orkney website (www.growingupinorkney.co.uk), which focuses on children and young people.
The Protect Orkney website, available at www.protectorkney.co.uk, has been developed to ensure that people of all ages across the islands have access to the help and support they need. Whether you are a young adult navigating life independently, a parent or carer, someone with caring responsibilities, or an older adult seeking support, the website aims to be a starting point for finding the right information and guidance.
Together, the two websites extend the reach of many resources to an adult audience, ensuring that support is available at every stage of life and reflecting a commitment to protecting and supporting everyone in Orkney's community, regardless of age.
For professionals working across Orkney's public services and partner organisations, the website will serve as a central location for multiagency guidance and access to professional training provisions provided by the Orkney Public Protection Committee (OPPC). This brings key resources together in one place, making it easier for practitioners to find the information they need to support the people they work with.
Stephen Brown, Chief Officer, Orkney Health and Social Care Partnership, said: "Protecting people of all ages is something we take enormously seriously in Orkney, and the launch of Protect Orkney is an important step in making sure that adults in our community have the same access to information and support that we provide for our children and young people through the Growing Up in Orkney website.
"Whether you are a young adult, a parent, someone caring for a loved one, or an older adult looking for help, this website is designed with you in mind. It is also an invaluable resource for the professionals and partner organisations who work tirelessly to support our community every day.
"The website is very much a living resource that will continue to grow and develop over time as services and community partners contribute their expertise and knowledge. I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who has been involved in supporting and developing the site to this point, and I would encourage users to explore what is available and share their feedback."
Feedback on the website is welcomed and can be submitted directly through the site or by emailing OPPC@orkney.gov.uk.
