Open days at Kirkjuvagr House for recruitment events

Orkney Health and Care (OHAC) are inviting people interested in a rewarding career in care, or those who are just curious, to attend a series of recruitment events at the newly finished Kirkjuvagr House Care Home, on Thursday 20 and Saturday 22 of August 2026.
The events will give prospective employees the opportunity to visit the brand-new facility, meet members of the team, learn more about the range of roles available, and to apply, interview and be offered a position on the day.
Kirkjuvagr House is a significant investment in the future of residential care in Orkney and has been purpose built to provide a modern, state of the art facility to create a welcoming and accessible environment for its residents and the staff who support them.
As work continues ahead of welcoming residents, OHAC aims to recruit new members of staff to join the team.
There’s a wide variety of positions which are available, including:
- Social Care Assistant
- Social Care Worker,
- Domestic,
- Social Care Worker (Nights)
- Various Relief posts

The events are being held at Kirkjuvagr House, Solisquoy Loan, KW15 1BY on:
· Thursday 20 August 2026 from 2pm to 8pm
· Saturday 22 August 2026 10am to 1pm then 3pm to 6pm.
Anyone wishing to attend, to ask questions or be interviewed, can simply pop in on the day at a time that suits them - no booking required. For those who'd prefer to plan ahead and secure a slot in advance, this can be arranged by contacting Dylan Johnston by email at Dylan.Johnston@orkney.gov.uk or by calling 01856 873535 ext. 3745. Those booking a slot will be provided with full details of the recruitment process, including information on any paperwork they will need to bring with them on the day. Applicants will also receive a link to apply for the role they are interested in, with the option of completing the application form online or on paper ahead of the event. For those who prefer, paper application forms can be completed and submitted on the day.
