Local businesses invited to 'Meet the Buyer'

Date: 8 September 2017

Time: 09:07

Local businesses who are interested in doing business with the public sector in Orkney are being invited to attend a 'Meet the Buyer' event next month.

The event, being run by Orkney Islands Council and Business Gateway Orkney, will give businesses a chance to find out more about working with the public sector and give public sector organisations a chance to network with potential suppliers.

A similar event last year attracted over 40 attendees.

Topics to be covered at the event include details of future contract opportunities, information on work that is underway to improve access to contracts for smaller businesses and the launch of a consultation on the Council's draft Sustainable Procurement policy.

Gillian Morrison is the Council's Executive Director of Corporate Services. She said: "The Council has an ongoing commitment to the Orkney business community and to local economic development.

"Following feedback from the last event we've placed an increased focus on meeting with specific service areas to discuss anticipated developments and contracts coming up over the next two years.

"We are looking forward to engaging with local suppliers at the event."

The event takes place on 5 October in the Orkney Library and Archive in Kirkwall. To find out more about the event contact Business Gateway Orkney on 01856898595. You can book a space at the event online at Eventbrite.
