Island Games service changes

The below is a summary of changes to the Council's usual services during the 2025 Orkney International Island Games period (12 to 18 July 2025).

Bin collections and tips

There are disruptions to refuse/recycling collections in the West Mainland and changes to tip operating times. Read our press release for full details.

Road closures

Event related road closures, arranged by the Island Games organisers, can be found on the Orkney 2025 website.

Ferry services

There are changes to ferry services to/from Graemsay, Tingwall, and Houton. Check the Orkney Ferries website for operational updates.

Public Bus services

Check our press release about changes to the normal bus timetables.

Island Games bus services

The Island Games organisers have arranged additional bus services to help spectators and competitors get to and from events. Details of these will be available on the Orkney 2025 website from Friday 4 July.
