Have Your Say on Tourism at Community Workshops
Date: 20 October 2025
Time: 01:00 PM

Orkney Islands Council is inviting residents to join workshops to help shape the future of tourism across our islands.
Following the successful launch of the Our Orkney, Our Story project in August, which gathered community views about tourism pressures and opportunities, the Council is now building on that work with a series of Community Tourism Conversations.
Councillor Kristopher Leask, Chair of the Development and Infrastructure Committee, said “Tourism is vital to Orkney’s economy, but we need to ensure it works for everyone who lives here. These workshops are an opportunity for residents to have a real say in shaping how we manage tourism going forward.
“We want to hear your views and ideas so we can develop practical solutions that benefit both our communities and our visitors.”
The workshops will take place at the Pickaquoy Centre from 11:30am-2:30pm on Wednesday 5 November, Thursday 6 November, and Tuesday 11 November.
They will bring the community together to hear the summer research findings, shape a shared vision for tourism and identify priority actions that benefit residents, visitors and the environment - all feeding into the Council’s Visitor Management Plan.
A sandwich lunch will be provided at each session, and attendees are asked to let organisers know of any dietary requirements when booking.
With only 24 places available at each workshop, early booking is essential - secure your space today at http://bit.ly/47f0wC5.
