Glass recycling advice for businesses

Date: 14 March 2018

Time: 04:07

The Council is advising that a collection point for glass bottles and jars from commercial businesses will no longer be available at Cursiter Quarry from Thursday 15 March.

A skip at the quarry was put in place for this purpose on a temporary basis a number of years ago.

Since then, the Council has introduced the option of a kerbside collection for glass and other recyclable items from commercial premises.

In addition, a collection point for recyclable glass bottles and jars from businesses remains available at the Chinglebraes Waste Transfer Station.

With these options available to local businesses, the Council has decided not to replace the skip at Cursiter Quarry, which is no longer fit for purpose.

Businesses interested in the kerbside recycling collection should contact OIC’s Development and Infrastructure service on 01856873535.

This does not affect household recycling. Households can still take glass and many other recyclable items to the Household Waste Recycling Centre located adjacent to Cursiter Quarry. The Chinglebraes facility can only be used by businesses.
