Dive into Summer Fun with Our 2025 Summer Holiday Programme!
Date: 23 June 2025
Time: 09:00
If you're on the hunt for something to do during the summer holidays, then look no further than our Sport & Leisure Team's extensive programme of activities for July and August.
The team have been working with a range of partners, local groups and organisations to provide a host of sporting and leisure fun during the holidays and, in addition to the free activities, many others are included within ActiveLife memberships.
The free activities include fencing taster sessions (including seated fencing) thanks to the Orkney Fencing Club, Scottish Football Association Football Festivals for different age groups, Island Games Sports sessions at various primary schools, Family Learning STEM Days and ASN Multi Sport Sessions, run in partnership with Inclusive Orkney.
Many of the available activities come under the ActiveLife membership banner - such as swimming pool fun sessions, Parents & Toddlers sessions and Generation Pound fitness classes.
There's also a range of paid activities available, including Learn to Swim weeks, Ross County Football Camps, craft and games sessions, and bouncy castle sessions.
Stromness Swimming Pool will be offering Learn to Swim sessions throughout the holidays. Please ensure you book your child onto the same level they attend in Learn to Swim classes. If your child does not attend swimming lessons, get in touch with stromness.pool@glow.orkneyschools.org.uk and they will assist.
The Scottish Football Association Football Festivals are running on multiple dates throughout July for different age groups - perfect for young footballers born between 2013-2019 to showcase their skills on the KGS 3G Pitch.
The Orkney Library & Archive is running their Summer Reading Challenge alongside crafts, colouring, Lego and sensory room activities throughout the holidays, plus special VR Headset Sessions for those aged 12 and over.
Family Learning activities are taking place at various locations including the Youth Café in Kirkwall, Kirbister Farm Museum, and Binscarth Woods, covering fascinating topics from farming to the science of food.
