Consumers Urged to Return Recalled Orgenism Capsules Due to Salmonella Risk
Date: 7 July 2025
Time: 10:00
Consumers are being urged to check their cabinets for Orgenism Eggshell Membrane Capsules sold on Amazon
These are being recalled by the manufacturer due to contamination with Salmonella.
The recall applies to all batch codes of the product, which comes in a 60-capsule pack (500mg per serving).
This follows an update from the Food Standards Scotland (FSS), which has confirmed that the type of Salmonella found in the product has been linked to cases of illness.
The bacteria is also resistant to several antibiotics, making it more difficult to treat.
Salmonella infection can cause symptoms such as fever, diarrhoea and stomach cramps. In this case, the strain found is resistant to antibiotics including fluoroquinolones, tetracycline and fosfomycin.
Orgenism has stopped all Amazon sales of the product and has issued a recall notice on its website. The company is working with public health authorities to ensure the product is removed from circulation.
Consumers are advised not to consume the product and to take extra care when disposing of it. The capsules must not be thrown in household waste or flushed down the toilet, as this could pose a risk to others and the environment.
