Conservation area appraisal underway

In the next few weeks, the conversation areas of Kirkwall and Stromness are being appraised. This work will be completed from the public realm, and access to private land will not be required. The team completing this work will be taking photographs and completing surveys on key properties within both Conservation Areas.

Conservation Areas are designated by the Council’s Planning Service in line with national legislation and are areas that have significant historic and architectural merit. They require to be regularly appraised to assist in the preservation of these areas and the development of future projects
