A business networking breakfast event is being held at the end of this month, to officially launch a new Business Gateway service.

Local businesses are invited to attend a morning event to discuss Brexit with Bill Jamieson, founder and editor of Scot-Buzz and former executive editor of The Scotsman.

Bill regularly writes and comments on finance, economics, politics and current affairs, and aims to help business enterprise and the SME (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises) sector.

The event will be the first in a series to be offered as part of the new Business Improvement and Growth (BIG) service, jointly funded by Orkney Islands Council and the European Regional Development Fund, aimed at offering advice and support to established local businesses looking to grow.

The BIG Brexit Breakfast takes place on Tuesday January 24.

It will offer the local business community the opportunity to participate in informal conversation around Brexit - over a complimentary breakfast.

Claire Kemp, Manager of Business Gateway Orkney, said: “Our new BIG service is going to help us to provide more involved and enhanced support for local businesses that have ambitions to grow. It will include tailored one-to-one support, recruitment advice, and a series of specialised workshops to inspire businesses and provide networking opportunities.

“The BIG Brexit Breakfast will not only give local businesses the opportunity to get together, it will also provide an opportunity for them to feed into the development of the BIG service and help us tailor it to local needs.”

The event takes place at 08:15 on Tuesday January 24 at the Lynnfield Hotel. There are a limited number of tickets available, so to request a place, please email Business Gateway.
