2025 Orkney Carer's Conference recording now available online

November saw the 2025 Orkney Carers' Conference take place at the Pickaquoy Centre, focusing on the local support available to unpaid carers in our community. A full recording of the event, along with the presentations, is now available to watch online.

Speakers included current and former carers, young carers, and representatives from organisations such as Crossroads Care Orkney, Age Scotland Orkney, Orkney Health and Care, NHS Orkney and Orkney Citizens' Advice Bureau.

As well as providing information on local support, it is also hoped that the event has increased awareness in the community about the importance of unpaid carers and why somebody might be considered a carer.

The conference is organised each year by the Carers Strategy Group — a partnership involving Crossroads Care Orkney, Age Scotland Orkney, Orkney Health and Care, NHS Orkney, Orkney Islands Council and professionals who work closely with families.
