Mental Health Awareness
Mental Health Awareness was the most requested training, so a 3-tiered approach was agreed with NHS Orkney staff comprising of Informed level (suitable for anyone), skilled level (for staff and volunteers likely to be dealing with mental health support) and enhanced level (for staff dealing with significant mental health requirements).
Members of the Training Subgroup from VAO, CLDE and Education undertook training to deliver the NHSO Orkney Save a Life training session. It was agreed that the CLD Training Partnership would deliver the training face to face at alternative times to NHS Orkney who deliver the training online, every three months. Save a life training was offered by the CLD Partnership Training subgroup three times during this period. In total 37 people completed the Save a Life training delivered through the CLD Partnership over this period. In addition, NHS Orkney also now deliver Mentally Healthy Workplace training in the community.
For the Skilled level – UHI Orkney are now delivering ASSIST training locally.
For the enhanced level, the CLD Partnership paid for a deliverer to come up to Orkney to deliver the 2-day Scottish Mental Health Trainer for 14 people. UHI Orkney now deliver this training locally.
In total the CLD Partnership specifically arranged 9 training sessions in relation to mental health awareness to 76 people. 17 people that signed up for the training failed to attend.
